TASIS enjoys an impressive view of Lake Lugano and surrounding mountains - the pre-Alps of Lombardy and Switzerland. In the distance one can see Italy, a reminder that Lugano, in the Italian-speaking Swiss canton of Ticino, was once part of northern Italy.

The American School in Switzerland is nestled on the hillside of Montagnola, a short drive from Lugano; Lugano is renowned for its medical, commercial, and banking facilities - all are examples of the security and stability that distinguish Switzerland. Lugano is a cosmopolitan town offering historical charm - broad piazzas, arcaded cobblestone streets, sidewalk cafés, restaurants, jewelry stores, fashion boutiques, and local food specialty shops. Cosmopolitan yet traditional, urban yet surrounded by natural riches, our setting offers a myriad of cultural and recreational opportunities. Indeed, all of the TASIS programs view the school's environs as a natural extension of the campus.
