Les Tapies Arts and Architecture Program

Les Tapies Arts and Architecture Program in the South of France offers an intensive three-week design and cultural experience through a hands-on study of French vernacular architecture and the functional/aesthetic relationship it shares with the landscape. The program is designed for students ages 14-19 who have a strong interest in the arts, or who are considering a career in design or architecture.
Students enroll in one of the major courses as well as an elective in an area of interest, which will strengthen their creative and presentation techniques or develop manual skills through restoration projects. Major courses meet a minimum of 4 hours daily, and the elective meets 3 hours per day, three days a week. In addition, there is a full day excursion and one free day per week.
Art Teacher Workshop

Designed to reconnect teachers with their artistic roots and rekindle their passion for teaching art while exploring ideas for strengthening their Visual Arts departments, the TASIS Art Teacher Workhop offiers a 10-day intensive creative experience in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled regions of France. An important dimension of the program is the hands-on involvment of participants in a wide range of workshops, seminars, square table discussions, presentations, lectures, activities, and field trips, which draw on the rich cultural heritage of Southern France and on the master artists who have depicted its natural beauty and light in their work.
IB Visual Arts Teacher Workshop
The Visual Arts Workshop (VAW) at Les Tapies in Southern France, offered in cooperation with the IB, is a category 2 and 3 workshop for experienced IB Diploma art teachers interested in expanding their professional development and engaging in an intimate community of like-minded professionals.
The Program draws on the rich artistic heritage of Provence and its unique light and landscape which has inspired master artists for centuries. Les Tapies is a beautifully restored 17th century hamlet with spectacular views overlooking the Rhone Valley and the French Alps in the distance. The excellent art studios in architecture, drawing & painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture are at the full disposal of the VAW participants. A special dimension of the program is the supportive community shared with art teachers, presenters and guest artists who come from a broad spectrum of schools from around the world.
The intensive four-day workshop is led by experienced IB presenter and examiner Andrew Vaughan. In addition joint sessions are offered with participants from the highly regarded Les Tapies Art Teacher Workshop (ATW), which reconnects art teachers with their artistic passion. VAW participants may also extend their stay at Les Tapies by an additional week to take part in the ATW, which is specifically designed by experienced art teachers and enables teachers to become students again as well as explore ways to strengthen their art departments. A highlight of the ATW is the full day excursion to incomparable Aix-en-Provence, home of Cezanne.
